HEAL Volunteers in India
HEAL Project Coordinators Jeffrey Sparenborg and Ty Turley visited India for three weeks in February 2005 to observe the social workers in Hyderabad and Bapatla. They were able to follow all ten of HEAL’s native employees as they met with families and communities in the thirteen main villages and slums where HEAL operates. Jeffrey and Ty attended Meera’s monthly training meeting for all HEAL social workers. They also consulted with Managers Anil and Meera on how the programs were running and what possibilities existed for summer projects. HEAL volunteers returned to India in August 2005, to work on these projects. Jeffrey and Ty had both been in India in August, and were extremely impressed with the progress made in six months.
